Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 and Microsoft SQL Server 2012 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included together with the previous SQL Server 2008 R2 or SQL Server 2012 fix release.
Symptoms
Assume that you run the "UPDATE STATISTICS" statement against a table in Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 or SQL Server 2012. If the statistic is created on a very long column that has limited length, and the values in the column are nearly 8,000 characters in length, you may receive the following error message:
Msg 9105, Level 16, State 30, Line 1
The provided statistics stream is corrupt.
Resolution
The issue was first fixed in the following cumulative update of SQL Server.
Cumulative Update 11 for SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2 /en-us/help/2926028
Cumulative update 4 for SQL Server 2012 SP1 /en-us/help/2833645
Cumulative update 7 for SQL Server 2012 /en-us/help/2823247
Each new cumulative update for SQL Server contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous cumulative update. Check out the latest cumulative updates for SQL Server:
