Statement of support

There is an issue with the SQL Server Database engine components of original cumulative update package. Therefore, you cannot download this package now. However, you can instead apply the following package to resolve the issues that are described in this Microsoft Knowledge Base (KB) article:

SQLServer2008R2_SP2_COD_2837247_10_50_4285

This will update the SQL Server build to 10.50.4285.0. Customers that installed the original package (build 10.50.4279.0) should upgrade to the above build as soon as possible.

INTRODUCTION

This article describes cumulative update package 6 for Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 2 (SP2). This update contains hotfixes for issues that were fixed after the release of SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2.

Note The build number of the cumulative update package is 10.50.4279.0.

We recommend that you test hotfixes before you deploy them in a production environment. Because the builds are cumulative, each new update release contains all the hotfixes and all the security updates that were included with the previous SQL Server 2008 R2 update release. We recommend that you consider applying the most recent update release.

Important notes about this cumulative update package

  • SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2 hotfixes are now multilingual. Therefore, this cumulative update package is not specific to one language. It applies to all supported languages.

  • One cumulative update package includes all the component packages. However, the cumulative update package updates only those components that are installed on the system.

More Information

How to obtain this cumulative update package

A supported cumulative update package is now available from Microsoft. However, it is intended to correct only the problems that are described in this article. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing these specific problems. This cumulative update package may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by any of these problems, we recommend that you wait for the next SQL Server 2008 R2 service pack that contains the hotfixes in this cumulative update package.

If the cumulative update is available for download, there is a "Hotfix download available" section at the top of this Knowledge Base article. If this section does not appear, contact Microsoft Customer Service and Support to obtain the cumulative update package.

Note If additional issues occur or any troubleshooting is required, you might have to create a separate service request. The usual support costs will apply to additional support questions and issues that do not qualify for this specific cumulative update package. For a complete list of Microsoft Customer Service and Support telephone numbers or to create a separate service request, go to the following Microsoft website:

http://support.microsoft.com/contactus/?ws=supportNote The "Hotfix Download Available" form displays the languages for which the cumulative update is available. If you do not see your language, it is because a cumulative update package is not available for that language.

Hotfixes that are included in this cumulative update package
