Symptoms

When you execute a Process command (such as a ProcessFull or ProcessAdd command) against a partitioned table in a Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Analysis Services (SSAS 2012) or SQL Server 2014 Analysis Services (SSAS 2014) instance that is running in Tabular mode, you may receive the following error:

An unexpected error occurred (file 'xmcompanalyzer.cpp', line 553, function 'XMCompressionAnalyzer::SelectBitPackCompression'). The current operation was cancelled because another operation in the transaction failed.


Each new cumulative update for SQL Server contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous cumulative update. Check out the latest cumulative updates for SQL Server:

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.

Workaround

To work around the issue, perform a Process Defrag command against the table that has the issue.
