Symptoms

The government of Morocco has announced the DST Transitions for Ramadan in 2013.

According to the announcement, the DST period will be interrupted during the Muslim month of Ramadan (July 9 to August 10, 2013 in the Gregorian calendar).

For that period, clocks will be turned back to standard time. This interruption in the DST schedule is designed to shorten evenings, making it easier for Muslims to observe the Ramadan fast during hours of daylight.

Transition from DST (July 9, 2013)

A supported Fix-it solution is now available from Microsoft to enable the first transition to DST on July 9, 2013. You can download the Fix-it solution by clicking the one of the following links, depending on your operating system.

For Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 x86, Windows 7 x64, Windows Sever 2000, Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008 x86, Windows Server 2008 x64, or Windows Server 2008 R2, please apply the following Fix-it solution.

For Windows 8 x86, Windows 8 x64, Windows RT, Windows Server 2012 x86, and Windows Server 2012 x64, please apply the following Fix-it solution.

To observe the change, you have to install the Fix-it solution before July 9, 2013.

When you install the Fix-it solution above, DST will be turned off on July 9, 2013 to mark the beginning of Ramadan.

Note Please make sure that you have the latest Windows Cumulative Update for your time zone and DST installed before you running this Fix-it solution. To find the latest update, click here.

Transition to DST (August 10, 2013)

The second transition is when DST resumes at the end of the holy month of Ramadan on August 10, 2013.

To observe the change, install the second Fix-it solution during the Ramadan Period (July 9, 2013 through August 10, 2013).

For Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 x86, Windows 7 x64, Windows Sever 2000, Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008 x86, Windows Server 2008 x64, or Windows Server 2008 R2, please apply the following Fix-it solution.

For Windows 8 x86, Windows 8 x64, Windows RT, Windows Server 2012 x86, and Windows Server 2012 x64, please apply the following Fix-it solution.

DST will then resume (and end on September 29, 2013) after this solution is applied.

Note Time zone history will not account for the Ramadan period with the Fix-it solutions above.
