Introduction

This article describes a feature for Microsoft Lync Server 2013. The feature enables transparent data encryption (TDE) in Microsoft SQL Server 2008 or a later version of SQL Server on a back-end server.

Note TDE is not supported in SQL Server Express Edition. Therefore, the feature is not enabled on a front-end server.

This feature is enabled in all versions of Lync Server 2013.
