To install an update on LRS that does not have Internet access, follow these steps:

Note Before you install the update, you must have an HTTP server that LRS has access to. For more information, go to the “How to set up an HTTP server in Windows Server 2012 R2” section.

  1. Download the public update manifest to your Virtual Directory’s physical folder from one of the following OEM (the manufacturer of your Lync Room System) links. The OEM may require the physical folder to be a specific folder in a folder structure.

Note The update for Polycom is not available yet. When the update is available, the link for Polycom will be posted.

  2. To extract the update manifest to the folder, follow these steps:

    1. At the command prompt, direct to the physical folder by using the cd command.

    2. Run one of the following commands for the corresponding OEM to extract LyncRoomUpdates.xml to the physical folder.

      • CrestronLyncRoomUpdates.exe LyncRoomUpdates.xml

      • SmartLyncRoomUpdates.exe LyncRoomUpdates.xml

      • PolycomLyncRoomUpdates.exe LyncRoomUpdates.xml

    3. Run the LyncRoomUpdates.xml command to view the contents of the update manifest.

  3. Download all files in the update manifest to the physical folder.

    Note

    • If the XML entry contains a link, visit the link to download the file. The file must be named the same as the FileName attribute.

    • If the XML entry has the IsFwLink attribute set to True, add the file name to the end of the web address to download the file.

  4. Connect LRS to a network by using the access that is to your internal HTTP server.

  5. Log on to LRS in administrator mode by using administrator credentials.

  6. Click the Web Updates tab.

  7. Under Microsoft updates, select a WSUS server.

  8. Under OEM updates, select Download from internal server.

  9. Under Update frequency, select the Automatic updates check box to update automatically during the daily maintenance time.

Note If you change any settings and want to apply updates manually, follow these steps:

    1. Click Apply & Restart.

    2. Restart LRS and then log on to LRS in administrator mode by using administrator credentials.

    3. Click the Web Updates tab again.

  10. Select Check Updates and Install.

  11. Click OK to restart LRS when you are prompted.

To set up an HTTP server to download the update files for LRS that does not have Internet access in Windows Server 2012 R2, follow these steps:

  1. Add the Web Server (IIS) role in Windows Server 2012 R2.

  2. Click Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager in Server Manager\Tools.

  3. In IIS Manager, open the tree for your HTTP server and then expand the Sites node.

  4. Right-click the Sites node, and then select Add Virtual Directory. Create a name for access by using IP address\Name. Select the physical path of the folder on a disk where you will download the LRS public update manifest and associate files.

Note The OEM may require the physical folder to be a specific folder in a folder structure. So you must select the extracted OEM root directory as your physical path, and then follow the OEM instructions for the file path to specify in the following path:LRS Admin Console\Web Updates\Download from internal server text box

  5. After you download files, make sure that the server will serve all files to download by visiting each address, such as IP address\Name\File.extension.

Note If a file is not served, add a MIME type for the file in IIS Manager.
