Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • A user who is working on computer A that is running Windows 8.1 connects to a printer that is shared with another computer (computer B) over the network.

  • The shared printer is connected to computer B through the Web Services on Devices (WSD) connection protocol.

  • The user applies update 2975719 (that is released before September 2, 2014) on computer A.

In this scenario, the user cannot print to any printer.

Cause

This issue occurs because the Print Spooler service crashes.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, install update 2975719 that is re-released on September 2, 2014.

Status

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
