Symptoms

Assume that you are using Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Analysis Services (SSAS 2014). When Value() function is not appropriately used in an MDX (Multidimensional expressions) query, the query may rapidly and completely consume all the server memory even beyond memory limitation. Therefore, this may cause the server to hang.

Resolution

This issue is fixed in the following cumulative update for SQL Server:

       Cumulative Update 5 for SQL Server 2014 SP2

Each new cumulative update for SQL Server contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous cumulative update. Check out the latest cumulative updates for SQL Server:
