Printing preferences window appears behind a RemoteApp window in Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2

This article describes a problem that occurs when you select a printing preferences option in Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1) or Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1. An update and a hotfix are available to resolve this problem. The update or the hotfix has a prerequisite.

Symptoms

Assume that you use a redirected printer to print in a RemoteApp window, and that you select a local printing preferences option. In this situation, the printing preferences window appears behind the RemoteApp window.

Resolution

To resolve this problem, we have released an update and a hotfix for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2. Use one of the following methods to obtain the update or hotfix.

Method 3: Hotfix package for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.
