Client requests take a long time to execute or COM+ application freezes in Windows 7 SP1 or Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You run a Microsoft Component Services (COM+) application in Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1) or Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1.
  • The application relies on some COM+ components that are registered as single threaded.
In this scenario, you may encounter one of the following issues:
  • A memory leak occurs in the COM+ application. Therefore, the application may freeze.
  • Calls from client computers to the COM+ components are placed in a waiting status. Therefore, client requests take a long time to execute.
