Cause 1: The Undo stackFor every operation that is performed by using VBA, PowerPoint has to keep a record in memory so that it can restore the previous state if the user decides to undo a previous action. When you run the presentation for a long time, the Undo record keeps increasing, and more memory is consumed.
Cause 2: Virtual memoryThe speed optimizations in PowerPoint. In order to improve performance in Slide Show mode, virtual memory is deallocated only when the presentation is closed. The allocated memory is not leaked, because it will eventually be released.
For cause 1Clear the Undo stack by saving the presentation. You can take this action regularly to reduce how much physical memory is consumed in PowerPoint.
For cause 2Close and then reopen the presentation where the code was running.
