Summary

The Support Diagnostics Platform (SDP) manifest file is a diagnostic tool that collects Windows Hypertext Transfer Protocol (WinHTTP) logging information that is generated by Microsoft Office programs.

This diagnostic can be used on the following versions of Microsoft Windows: 
Windows 7
When you run the Office WinHTTP Tracer diagnostic, you are prompted to select one Office application from the list of currently running Office applications. For example, the following screen displays all the Office 2007 applications running that are running on the computer.



In this screen, select the Office application in which you are experiencing the problem, and then click Next.

If the selected Office application is running, you receive a warning that indicates the number of seconds that remain until the application is automatically closed.



The next screen prompts you to reproduce the problem. To do this, restart the selected Office application. Then, click Next.



After you reproduce the problem, close the selected Office application, and then click Next to upload the collected logging information.

Information that is collected

The diagnostic utilizes Netsh commands to generate WinHTTP logging information. For more information about how to use Netsh in this context, go to the following Microsoft TechNet topic:

Notes
  • In the file name, {Computername} represents the actual name of the computer on which the Microsoft Support Diagnostic Tool is run. All file names in the data collection are prefaced by the computer name.
  • In the file name, application represents the name of the selected application for which WinHTTP Tracer collects logging information.
  • In the file name, PID is the process ID of the selected application for which WinHTTP Tracer collects logging information.
