Along with our continuing commitment to your privacy with Windows 10, it's important to make sure your privacy settings are also ready. If you’re updating your device from Windows 10, version 1607 or earlier, you may be prompted to review and choose your privacy settings after the update.
To review your privacy settings, sign in to your device with an administrator account. When you get to Choose privacy settings for your device, the settings are based on what you chose before updating Windows. Adjust the settings by turning any toggle on or off, and then select Accept.
For detailed info about each privacy settings category and how it affects data transfers and usage, select Learn more.
- Only an administrator can adjust privacy settings, and those settings apply to all accounts on your device.
- If you got a notification to review your privacy settings before updating your device, you'll now review them after Windows installs the update instead.
After installing the update and reviewing your privacy settings, you can change them at any time by selecting the Start button > Settings > Privacy. To learn more about Windows 10 and your privacy, see privacy.microsoft.com.
