Microsoft does not offer support for 32-bit Windows-based, Linux-based, or Berkeley Software Distribution (BSD)-based operating systems that run on a Microsoft Azure virtual machine (VM), except in the following situations:
- Running Windows Server 2003 on Microsoft Azure
- Running Windows Server 2008 on Microsoft Azure
Note Only the first situation has an available Microsoft Knowledge Base article for more information.
Although 32-bit guests are enabled in Hyper-V, those operating systems have not been tested by Microsoft in most situations for use on Azure virtual machines, and are known not to integrate correctly with Azure features and technologies. This is true except in the situations that are mentioned in the "Symptoms" section.
