Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2008 R2 fix release.

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You create a Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) report in Business Intelligence Development Studio (BIDS) or in Report Builder.

  • The report uses a Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Analysis Services (SSAS 2008 R2) database as a data source.

  • You try to add a calculated member to the report.

In this scenario, the Functions pane incorrectly displays instances of Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) functions in the Calculated Member Builder window. Additionally, the functions have no names.

Notes

  • Any folder that has an uppercase folder name in the Functions pane has DAX functions. For example, the DAX functions have empty names in the DATETIME folder when this issue occurs.

  • The version of SQL Server Reporting Services does not affect this issue.

Cause

This issue occurs because SQL Server Analysis Services uses incorrect filters to query functions from the MDSCHEMA_FUNCTIONS rowset.
