Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 or Microsoft SQL Server 2012 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2008 R2 or SQL Server 2012 fix release.
Symptoms
Consider the following scenario:
-
You have Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Analysis Services (SSAS 2008 R2) or Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Analysis Services (SSAS 2012) installed on a computer.

You create a Multidimensional Expressions (MDX) query that uses a year-to-date (YTD) calculation and that references dimension members for at least one attribute.

You run the MDX query in SSAS 2008 R2.
In this scenario, the storage engine reads the same date dimension two times. SSAS 2008 R2 experiences poor performance if you run multiple MDX queries at the same time.
Note This issue also occurs in Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Analysis Services (SSAS 2008).
