Expression Web displays shared borders for backward compatibility under the following conditions:
- You are working on a machine with IIS and the FrontPage extensions installed
- You are working with a remote website that resides on a server with FrontPage extensions
However, shared borders are not part of the Expression Web feature set, and will not be displayed on a local website or a remote site that is not supported by FrontPage extensions.
Open the site in FrontPage and turn off shared borders for all pages
On the web server in Windows Explorer open the root of the website (i.e.
Open the folder _vti_pvt.
Find service.cnf, open it in Notepad, and set vti_borderdefault:SR| none.
Save the page.
Reopen the site in Expression Web.
Try clicking File --> New --> Page. The shared Border should not be applied to the new page.
