Word 2007 documents that contain math alphanumeric equations do not print as expected on an HP LaserJet 8000 or HP 5500 printer device

Consider the following scenario. You try to print a Microsoft Office Word 2007 document. The document contains math alphanumeric equations. You use on one of the following printer devices to print the document:
  • An HP LaserJet 8000 printer device from Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.
  • An HP 5500 printer device from Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.
In this scenario, the math alphanumeric equations may appear as boxes that contain a question mark (?), or the page may be blank.

This problem occurs if you are using a print driver that is earlier than Hewlett-Packard Printer Control Language (PCL) version 6 with the printing device.

To resolve this problem, obtain the PCL version 6 driver for your printing device from Hewlett-Packard.

You can download the PCL version 6 driver from the Hewlett-Packard Web site:
