Windows 2000 may not log security event ID 528 when a user logs on successfully if the user is authenticated by using the LsaLogonUser function. If the CrashOnAuditFail option is set, the computers stops with code 0xC0000244.
When LsaLogonUser is called, a SourceContext parameter is passed. This is a TOKEN_SOURCE structure that identifies the source component. The SourceName member of this structure specifies an 8-byte character string that identifies the source of the access token. The symptoms that are described in this article occur if this member is not exactly eight bytes long.
