If you turn on the Audit Privilege Usage auditing for both success and failure, and you then save the Winmsd report while you are using an administrator account, audit failure event 577 is logged. This is the entry:

This is a problem with Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) version 1.5 in Windows 2000.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 4.
