How to Disable the Web Proxy

Manually disable the use of a proxy server in your Web browser settings. To disable the proxy server in Microsoft Internet Explorer, follow these steps:

Note Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps.
  1. Click Start, point to
    Programs, click Control Panel, and then double-click Internet Options.
  2. Click the Connections tab, and then click
    Lan Settings.
  3. Click to clear the Use a proxy servercheck box, click OK, and then click
    OK.
When you connect to the network the next time and want to use the proxy server, you must re-enable the use of a proxy server in your Web browser.

How to Disable the WinSock Proxy Client

Manually disable the WinSock Proxy client by using the WSP Client tool in Control Panel. To do so, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, point to
    Programs, click Control Panel, and then double-click WSP Client.
  2. Click to clear the Enable WinSock Proxy Client check box, and then click OK.
  3. To restart the computer, click Restart Windows Now.
When you connect to the network the next time and want to use the proxy server, you must re-enable the WinSock Proxy Client.
