Spelling is not checked in the language that you want to use in Outlook 2007 and in Word 2007

Symptoms

When you check the spelling of a Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 e-mail message or of a Microsoft Office Word 2007 document, the spelling is not checked in the language that you want to use.

Cause

This issue occurs because Outlook 2007 and Word 2007 use the dictionary for the language that is set in the Language bar toolbar to check spelling.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, change the language that is set in the Language bar toolbar to the language that you want to use when you check spelling.

Note If you do not see the Language bar toolbar on the desktop, right-click the taskbar, point to Toolbars, and then click Language bar.

To change the language setting in the Language bar toolbar, follow these steps:
  1. Click the arrow on the Language bar toolbar, and then click Settings.
  2. In the Installed services list, locate the language that you want to use. If the language is not listed in the Installed services list, follow these steps:
    1. Click Add.
    2. In the Input language list, click the language that you want to add, and then click OK.
  3. In the Default input language list, click the language that you want to use, click Apply, and then click OK.
