An e-mail signature is not available in Outlook 2007 if the signature file is saved with an .html file name extension

Symptoms

You create an .html file that contains the signature that you want to use when you create, forward, or reply to an e-mail message in Microsoft Office Outlook 2007. When you try to add the signature to an e-mail message, the signature is not available in Outlook 2007.

Cause

This issue occurs because Outlook 2007 does not support a signature file that is saved with the .html file name extension.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, rename the .html file name extension to .htm.

For example, if your reply signature file is named Reply Signature.html, rename the file to Reply Signature.htm.

Note Signature files for e-mail messages are saved in the following folder:
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\Signatures
The username placeholder references the user name that you use to log on to the computer.
