Symptoms

In Microsoft SQL Server 2008 or in SQL Server 2008 R2, you may receive the following error message:
Msg 916, Level 14, State 1, Line 1

The server principal "dm_db_script_level_Perms_LOGIN" is not able to access the database "model" under the current security context.
This problem occurs when you try to run the following query to view the records in the sys.dm_db_script_level view:
SELECT * FROM sys.dm_db_script_level

Cause

This problem occurs when you have the View Server State permission. This permission does not enable you to view the records in the sys.dm_db_script_level view.

Workaround

To work around this problem, run the query by using the System Administrator permission.
