An HTTP proxy is ignored when RPC calls are made from a computer that is running Windows 8.1, Windows RT 8.1, or Windows Server 2012 R2

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You have a computer that is running Windows 8.1, Windows RT 8.1, or Windows Server 2012 R2.
  • From this computer, you configure an HTTP proxy on a server by running a proxy automatic configuration (.pac) file.  

In this scenario, all remote procedure calls (RPCs) from the computer ignore the HTTP proxy. Instead, the RPCs connect directly to the server.

Resolution

Hotfix information

Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing the problem described in this article. This hotfix might receive additional testing.
