FIX: "2 timecard(s) for this employee and period already exist" error when you try to enter a timecard for an earlier timesheet period in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009

Consider the following scenario:
  • You use the Professional Services for Microsoft Dynamics AX solution in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009.
  • You have installed update 2690810 and update 2755593 .
  • You enter several timecards for a specific timesheet period.
  • You try to enter a timecard for an earlier timesheet period.

In this scenario, you receive the following error message:

2 timecard(s) for this employee and period already exist. Maximum allowed per employee and period is 2.

You must restart the Application Object Server (AOS) service after you apply this hotfix.

Validation of the application hotfix installation

To validate the installation of the application hotfix, open the SysHotfixManifest class in the Application Object Tree (AOT). Then, verify that there is a method name that contains the Knowledge Base (KB) article number of the installed hotfix. Additionally, you can cross-check the affected objects by viewing the kb2787219_bup_psabup.txt file against the objects in the AOT. Therefore, you can make sure that the objects are changed correctly in the SYP layer or in the GLP layer.
