Consider the following scenario:
- A user signs in to Microsoft Lync for Mac 2011.
- Another user signs in to Lync 2010, Lync 2013 or Lync for Mac 2011 on a different network.
- Either of the users tries to send a file to the other user in an instant message conversation.
In this scenario, both users receive the following error message:
You cannot receive the file <file name> from <username>. This may be because of firewall restrictions or network problems. If you need further assistance, please contact your support team.
Additionally, although the file transfer is not canceled, both users receive a message that states that the transfer was canceled.
