- You have a computer that uses a double-byte languages version of Windows 8 or Windows Server 2012 installed. For example, the Japanese or Chinese version of Windows.
- You install a vendor supplied V-4 printer driver that includes print preferences.
- You open printing preferences, and you apply changes to the settings. For instance, you apply the Factory Default profile.
In this scenario, after the changes are applied to the printing preferences settings, the vendor-specific UI will no longer be displayed. Instead, you see the generic UI.
To resolve the issue on systems that are running Windows Server 2012, we recommend that you use one of the following options:
Option #1 Open the Printer Properties, and then click the Advanced tab. You should then change the printer driver to a different in-box driver, save the changes, and then change the printer driver back to the original vendor V4 driver.
Option #2 Open Devices and Printersand delete the print queue for the problem printer. As soon as the print queue has been removed, go through the Add Printer Wizard to re-add the print queue by using the original vendor V4 driver.
