The format of the new numbers is nine characters, seven numeric followed by two alpha characters. For individuals, the second alpha character in the new PPSN is "A" (for example, 1234567FA) and for non-individual cases (for example, Limited Companies, Trusts, Partnerships and Unincorporated Bodies), it is "H" (for example, 1234567WH). The alpha character in position 8 operates as the check character using Modulus 23 calculation.
It is important to note that existing PPSNs/Tax Registration numbers already issued will remain unchanged and will continue to be valid.
After you apply this update, the Tax exempt number will follow the validation format rules when the Check tax exempt number functionality is enabled for Country/Region.
Note, the Tax ID is added in the Legislative enum type and can be used together with Tax registration types for managing Tax registration numbers per country for Legal entities.
In Tax registration types, you can either set up format manually using mask IE#######&&, so the system performs standard validation or keep it blank, so that the validation is performed by implemented rules for Ireland.
