Lesson plan and collaborate anywhere

From Office.com, you can create or access all your files in one place using the cloud. Share files when you need to without getting lost in email chains, or work together at the same time. This way, you can stay in touch with other educators at your school and know that everything you need is backed up and accessible, whether you’re in the classroom or not.

  • Launch an app from Office.com to start working and automatically save to OneDrive. Your work is private to you until you share it.

  • Use the Share button in any app to invite another educator to work on a document with you.

  • Use an @mention with someone’s name in a comment to direct them to a specific place in a document.

  • Work and comment in Teams conversations.

Meet virtually

The easiest way to stay in communication with students and educators is through Teams. You can create teams for classes or for groups of educators. Teams lets you chat, post messages and files, and video chat from any device.

  • Schedule online meetings in your Teams calendar.

  • @mention a student or educator by name in a Teams post to start a conversation.

  • Create announcements to keep everyone in your class informed and on the same page.

  • Meet from a channel to pull your full class into a lesson or presentation.

  • Chat privately with individuals or groups.

Share content with students

Teams goes beyond group communication—you can keep all your class files there, too. Each team you create means that all conversations, files, and collaboration are automatically saved in one place. You and your students can access them anywhere by simply going to teams.microsoft.com.

  • Post a conversation starter and share a file in a channel. All students or educators will be able to open and read the file you’ve shared, as well as comment in the conversation.

  • Upload important files you don’t want students to edit in the Class Materials folder of your class.

  • Start a meeting and present to the class by sharing your screen, or share a recording.

  • Set up the Class Notebook in your class team to open up even more content sharing possibilities.

Assign work and give assessments

Don’t fret! Your class handouts, quizzes, tests, and homework can all be assigned and even graded online. Make an assignment as simple or complex as you need, whether you want to send out a quick comprehension check or lay out a research paper with a grading rubric and multiple resources. Assign Office files and quizzes directly within Teams that students can work on and turn in, without needing to leave the app.

  • Use the Assignments tab in Teams.

  • Track progress and give feedback in the Grades tab in Teams.

  • Not using Teams for assignments? You can still assign rich assessments using Microsoft Forms.
