December 2014 MDM client update in Windows

This article describes an update of System Center Mobile Device Manager (MDM) for Windows 8.1, Windows RT 8.1, and Windows Server 2012 R2. This update has prerequisites and a restart requirement.

New functionalities in this update

This update adds the following functionalities to an MDM agent that is running Windows 8.1, Windows RT 8.1, or Windows Server 2012 R2:
  • Enables an MDM management service to detect and require a connected Microsoft account on computers that are running Windows 8.1, Windows RT 8.1, or Windows Server 2012 R2. This includes explaining to the user what action is necessary.
  • Enables an MDM management service to detect and require BitLocker drive encryption for all fixed operating systems and data drives on computers that are running Windows 8.1, Windows RT 8.1, or Windows Server 2012 R2.
  • Enables an MDM management service to detect and require automatic updates through Windows Update for computers that are running Windows 8.1, Windows RT 8.1, or Windows Server 2012 R2. This also includes the option to detect and require recommended updates.
