Automapped mailbox mirrors primary inbox in Outlook 2010 client

Symptoms

You have an Automapped mailbox in Microsoft Outlook 2010. However, instead of the automapped mailbox contents, Outlook displays the folder structure and contents from the primary mailbox when the automapped mailbox is viewed in the Navigation Pane.

Cause

This issue occurs when the shared mailbox is configured by using a MapiEnabled value of $false.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, verify the current setting of the MapiEnabled value, and change MapiEnabled to $true for the shared mailbox.

  1. Confirm the value of MapiEnabled by running the following command from the Exchange Management Console:

    Get-CASMailbox -Identity username | Format-List MapiEnabled

where username is the user name or alias of the shared mailbox; for example:

    Get-CASMailbox -Identity "Gertrude Watson" | Format-List MapiEnabled
  2. If the value of MapiEnabled is set to False then run the following command from the Exchange Management Console:

    Set-CASMailbox -Identity username -MAPIEnabled $true
where username is the user name or alias of the shared mailbox; for example:

Set-CASMailbox -Identity "Gertrude Watson" -MAPIEnabled $true
