Consider the following scenario when you are running Windows 7 and Microsoft Outlook 2010 or 2013.
- You try to Save As an email and you receive the following error:The server is not available. Contact your administrator if this condition persists.
- You select Open Calendar, Open Outlook Data File, or Other User's Folder on the Backstage and receive the following error:The server is not available. Contact your administrator if this condition persists.
This occurs when you have the Disable visual themes enabled on the properties for Outlook.exe.
To resolve this problem, uncheck Disable visual themes on the Compatibility tab in the Outlook Properties dialog box.
- Exit Outlook.
- Right click the Outlook icon, and then click Properties.
- On the Compatibility tab, click to clear the Disable visual themes option.
- Start Outlook.
