FIX: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for DB2 v3 receives corrupted data from INTEGER type source data in DB2

Consider the following scenario:
  • You install Microsoft OLE DB Provider for DB2 v3 or the DB2 data provider from Microsoft Host Integration Server 2009 on a computer that has Microsoft SQL Server installed.
  • You use the data provider together with an OLE DB client application. For example, you create a linked server to DB2/AS400 in an instance of SQL Server.
  • You run a SELECT query in the consumer application
  • The data-stream size of the result set is larger than 32 KB.

In this scenario, you may encounter data corruption from the result set on the INTEGER type column. The data provider does not use the correct internal buffer. This causes the data to be read incorrectly. For example, the source decimal data 11617 (0x2D61) is converted to 24877 (0x612D).

Note This problem was seen only against DB2/AS400 v6r1. However, it may also occur against DB2/AS400 v5r4.

This problem occurs because of an incorrect parsing of the data stream in an internal buffer that is used by the data provider.
