"Value cannot be null" error message when you exit spreadsheet edit mode in a Word document in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2

Symptoms

Assume that you run Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2. You create a Word document that contains an embedded Excel spreadsheet. When you exit the spreadsheet edit mode and still keep in the cell edit mode, you receive a Microsoft Dynamics AX Office add-in error message that resembles the following:
Value cannot be null.
Parameter name: key
