"Stop error code 0x000000C5" error message in Windows 2000

Symptoms

You may receive the following error message on a blue screen on a Windows 2000-based computer. When this problem occurs, the computer stops responding (hangs):

Status

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 4.
