Take a screenshot or record your screen on Surface
Take a screenshot or record a video to show other people what’s on your screens. Afterward, share it how you want—email, text message, social media—it’s up to you.
Quickly take a screenshot in one of two ways:

Select Start , enter Snipping Tool in the search bar, and select it from the results. See Use Snipping Tool to capture screenshots for more information.
Open Snipping Tool -
Press the Windows logo key + Shift + S.
To record your screen:
Note: Windows 11 users can use Snipping Tool. Windows 10 users can record their screen with Clipchamp. Find out how to do a screen recording with Clipchamp.

Select Start , enter Snipping Tool in the search bar, and select it from the results. See Use Snipping Tool to capture screenshots for more information.
Open Snipping Tool -
Select the Video icon, then select New .

Select-and-drag a rectangle selection for the area of the screen you wish to record.

Select Start to begin recording.

When you are finished with your recording, select Stop recording (the Stop button).
Here are a few other ways you can take a screenshot if you have a Surface Laptop, Surface Pro, Surface Book, Surface Go, or Surface Studio.

Press the Volume Up button + Power button at the same time.
Note: This shortcut doesn't work on a Surface Laptop.

Press the Windows logo key + PrtScn.
Your screenshots will automatically save to the Pictures > Screenshots folder in File explorer.

Press and hold the Volume down button + Power button at the same time.

To see your screenshot, do one of the following:

If you use Google Photos, open Google Photos, then tap Library > Screenshots folder.

If you use OneDrive, open OneDrive on your Home screen, then tap Photos > Explore > Screenshots folder.

Record video of your screens

Swipe down from the top of the screen to see quick settings, then swipe down again.

Swipe left to see more quick settings.

Tap Screen Record, then tap Start to begin recording.

When you're done and want to stop recording, swipe down from the top of the screen, and then tap the Screen Recorder notification.

To see your recorded videos, do one of the following:

If you use Google Photos, open Google Photos, then tap Library > Movies folder.

If you use OneDrive, open OneDrive on your Home screen, then tap Photos > Explore > Movies folder.

Tip: Don't see the Screen Record quick setting? Swipe down from the top of the screen twice, then tap Edit (the pencil icon). Under Hold and drag to add tiles, drag the Screen Recorder tile up to add it.
