Block inappropriate websites on Windows 10, Xbox One, and Android

  • You can block inappropriate websites on Windows 10, Xbox One, and Android devices running Microsoft Launcher when you use Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge browsers. To turn web browsing limits on, go to and sign in with your Microsoft account. Then:
    • Find your child's name and select Content restrictions.

    • Scroll down to Web browsing and switch Block inappropriate websites from Off to On.

    • If you want to always block specific sites, add their URLs under Always blocked.

    • If you want your child to only see websites you've explicitly allowed, check the box next to Only allow these websites.

  • Note: On Android devices with Microsoft Launcher, your child needs to sign in to Microsoft Edge with their Microsoft account for specific websites to be blocked. With this setting on, the following browsers will be automatically blocked: Chrome, UC Browser, Samsung Internet Browser, Firefox, VPN Free - Betternet Hotspot VPN & Private Browser, CM Browser, Dolphin Browser, Opera, Opera mini, Puffin Web Browser, Maxthon Browser, UC Browser mini, Firefox for Android Beta, Chrome Beta.

Xbox One

Web filtering lets you control what kind of websites your child can access on Xbox One. (On Xbox One, we turn this on automatically for kids under 8.) On your Xbox One console:

  • Sign in on the console with an adult account.

  • Press the Xbox  button to open the guide, then select System​​​ > Settings  > Account > Family.
  • Select the child account that you want to add web filters to, then select Web filtering.

  • Select the drop-down to view all the available options.
