When an Office 365 user tries to add an IMAP or POP account as a connected account in Outlook on the web, they receive the following error message:
This issue may occur if a subscription was created in the user's mailbox during an IMAP migration, and this subscription has the same name as the connected account that the user wants to add.
It was not possible create the subscription for account <User>@<DomainName>.com. A subscription already exists for <User>@<DomainName>.com. Try again with an exclusive subscription name.
To resolve this issue, remove the subscription from the user's mailbox. To do this, follow these steps:
- Connect to Exchange Online by using PowerShell. For more information, see Connect to Exchange Online using remote PowerShell.
- Run the following command:
Remove-Subscription <User>@<DomainName>.com -Mailbox email@example.com
