Assume that you have a server that's running Microsoft SQL Server 2012, and the server has a large volume of memory installed, such as 2–4 terabytes (TB). When you create a new database, it may take longer than expected to create the database. For example, it may take 10 minutes to finish the process.
Update informationThis issue is fixed in Cumulative Update 3 for SQL Server 2012 Service Pack 3.
Note To enable this feature improvement after you install this update, enable SQL Server trace flag 3449, and then enable an indirect checkpoint on the model database.
To enable trace flag 3449, add the -T3449 startup parameter. Or, you can use the dbcc traceon(3449) statement for a specific session.
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
