OneDrive not runnning icon If you see a gray OneDrive icon, this means you are not signed in. 

If you cannot sign in to your OneDrive sync app, or the sync app says OneDrive is not connected, follow the steps below.

OneDrive not signed in

  2. When OneDrive Setup starts, enter your personal account, or your work or school account, and then select Sign in.

  1. Select the Start button, search for “OneDrive”, and then open it:

    • In Windows 8.1, search for OneDrive, and then select the OneDrive app.

  2. When OneDrive Setup starts, enter your personal account, or your work or school account, and then select Sign in.

  1. Use the Finder app to search for and open OneDrive.

  2. When OneDrive Setup starts, enter your personal account, or your work or school account, and then select Sign in.

OneDrive not connected

If you cannot sign in to your OneDrive sync app, or you see a message saying OneDrive is not connected, let our troubleshooter guide you through the steps to get syncing again, or follow the steps below.
Start troubleshooter

1. Sign in

Check whether you can sign in to your OneDrive account online.

  • If you can't sign in to your Microsoft personal account, visit Can't sign in to Microsoft account.

  • If you can't sign in to OneDrive work or school account, try to reset your password or alternatively, please contact your organization's IT Admin.

2. Check for updates

If you can sign in to OneDrive online, but not on your computer, check for updates.

If your computer is up to date, reset OneDrive.

3. Reset OneDrive

If you're still having problems, unlinking and re-connecting your Windows or Mac PC to OneDrive can help solve some sync problems. Learn how.
