Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You have a Multidimensional Expressions (MDX) query that uses the INT function.

  • The expression in the INT function involves lots of members.

  • You run the MDX query in Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Analysis Services (SSAS 2012) or in Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Analysis Services (SSAS 2008 R2).

  • The query is executed continuously for some time. For example, the query runs for 30 minutes.

In this scenario, the memory usage of SSAS increases continuously. Eventually, an out of memory (OOM) error occurs.
