You can translate text available in images using Office Mobile App (Microsoft 365). Office Mobile App enables translating text present in images from one language to another preferred language using Deep-scan. You can also take actions such as copy, share, search on this translated text.
This action is available as a part of Deep-scan intelligence which highlights text and visual content in the images for users to copy, share, save and more. Just tap on the desired action and reuse the content seamlessly!
Where is this experience available within Office Mobile App (Microsoft 365)?
Translate is available as a part of Deep-scan which is available across the scenarios below:
- Over existing images
- Live camera screen
- Image edit screen (screen that comes after a new image capture)
- Over PDFs using the icon to copy/share text or images
How to initiate Translate over images?
- Initiate Deep-scan flow by clicking on this icon
over images. - Tap on text and select the desired text area that you want to translate.
- A set of available actions will appear. Tap on Translate. If you can't see Translate upfront, tap on
, Translate should now be visible. - Convert the text to desired language from set of supported languages. You can change the target language by selecting on Change.
- Take actions such as Copy, Share, Search on translated text.

For the best results, use a good resolution image with clear and simple font.
