Dynamics AX 2012 installation fails against the Windows Installer prerequisite check on a computer that is running Windows 8

Symptoms

When you try to install Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 client on a computer that is running Windows 8, the prerequisite check fails against the Windows Installer version. Therefore, the installation fails.

You must restart the Application Object Server (AOS) service after you apply the hotfix.
