Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You use the Master Data Services Add-in for Microsoft Excel to connect to SQL Server 2017 Master Data Services (MDS).

  • Domain-based attributes (DBA) include Master Data Services-derived hierarchy and an Include clause.

  • The entity member counts for DBA attributes is greater than 50.

  • You select all entity members that are included in the DBA pick-up filter search.

In this scenario, the derived hierarchies do not work correctly, and you may receive an error message that resembles the following:

Resolution

A fix for this issue is included in the following update for SQL Server:
