Symptoms

You have Microsoft BizTalk Server 2016 installed with MQSeries adapter MQSAgent in IBM WebSphere MQ server. You try to upgrade BizTalk on the MQ server (if the MQSeries Agent is the Only Component that is installed on the machine) with the latest BizTalk Server 2016 Cumulative Update (CU). In this situation, it will fail with an error as the CU requires SQL Server 2012 Native Client to be installed, even though it is never used in this scenario.

Status

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.

Resolution

This problem is fixed in the following cumulative update for BizTalk Server:
