ISSUE

When you paste a slide with a footer (slide numbers, text, or date) into a deck where the footer is unchecked in the Slide Master, the footer text appears in the top left corner of the slide. This text doesn't appear when the presentation is played in slide show but the text isn't selectable so you can't change or remove it.

This occurs in PowerPoint 2016, PowerPoint 2019 and PowerPoint in Office 365.

STATUS: FIXED

This issue has been fixed in Build: 16.0.11120.10000.

WORKAROUND

  1. Select Home, and in the Editing section, choose Select > Selection Pane...

  2. Choose the placeholder that you want to make changes to. Toggle between showing or hiding the selection using the eye icon to find the correct shape.

  3. Select the Format or Shape Format tab. In the Size section, increase the height and width.

You should now be able to select the shape, move it around or delete it.
