The quickest way to see if one of your Lync contacts is available is to find their contact listing in your Contacts list or track them down using Lync search. The vertical color-coded bar and text on the contact’s listing will indicate their availability.

If someone’s not available now but you still want to connect with them as soon as possible, use Lync to get on their calendar or have Lync send you a heads-up once their status changes.

See when a contact will be available

  1. Point to the contact’s picture and click the contact card icon.

  2. On the contact card, look under Calendar to see the contact’s availability.

  3. To arrange a meeting based on the calendar information, click Schedule a meeting to open Microsoft Outlook and send a meeting request.
