Discover is the AI powered front door to SharePoint that helps you quickly find, return to, and engage with relevant sites, news, files, and people across your organization.

Note: The new SharePoint experience for Discover, Publish, and Build is in Preview. Your IT administrator can enable the new experiences for your organization.

Accessing Discover

  1. Visit any SharePoint site or open SharePoint from the M365 app bar

  2. Select Discover from the SharePoint side app bar

Discover is designed to reduce time spent searching and help you focus on what matters most. It brings together personalized content, recent activity, and collaboration signals into a single, streamlined experience.

  • Faster access to important sites and content

  • Clear entry points for discovery and return visits

  • Contextual signals from your own activity and your coworkers

  • Built‑in AI experiences to help you catch up efficiently

Sections and Features in Discover

For You: Personalized Content Feed

The For You feed surfaces relevant sites, news, and files based on your activity, recency, and organizational signals. This personalized feed helps you stay focused on content that matters most to you without manual searching.

Left Rail: Quick Access to Important Sites

The Left Rail provides persistent access to sites you care about most, including:

  • Recent sites you’ve visited

  • Favorite sites you’ve explicitly starred

This makes it easy to return to frequently used sites from anywhere in Discover.

Recent Sites: Stay Up to Date on Site Activity

Recent Sites are shown as rich site cards that highlight recent activity and updates. These cards improve wayfinding and help you quickly identify where work is happening.

You can:

  • See which sites have recent updates

  • Favorite frequently accessed sites using the star action on each site card

Updates from Your Coworkers: Collaboration Signals

The Updates from Your Coworkers section highlights collaboration activity such as:

  • Files shared with you

  • Content updates from people you work with

This helps you stay connected to ongoing work and team momentum across your organization.

Recent Items: Resume Your Work

The Recent Items section helps you quickly return to content you recently accessed, including:

  • Files

  • SharePoint pages

  • SharePoint news posts

This reduces friction when picking up work where you left off.

Built‑in AI Experiences

Discover includes built‑in AI experiences to help you get value faster. From your recent sites, you can use AI to:

  • Catch up on site updates

  • Review file and activity summaries

Select the sparkles icon on supported surfaces to get started

Note: Your organization needs to assign a Copilot license to you to see the AI features in Discover.
