How to get help in SharePoint

Your organization’s intranet, or internal communications network, is built on Microsoft SharePoint. In SharePoint, you can create custom sites and pages that help drive collaboration and communication across your organization.

Ways to get help with SharePoint

Use the SharePoint help pane

Select the question mark in the upper right corner of your site to access the help pane. Here you can search for topics, and view featured and recommended topics.

Coachmarks

When you perform an action for the first time, such as creating a news post, you may see a teardrop shaped coachmark that looks like this:

These marks can appear in different colors depending on your site theme and settings. If you hover over the coachmark with your cursor, you’ll get quick guidance on how to use the feature. Selecting the Learn More link will take you to an article where you can find more in depth information about how to use feature.

Hover tool tips and learn more links

Some features have tool tips and learn more links that you can access by hovering over the feature. If you don't know what a button does, try hovering over it to see if there's a tool tip.

Browse help articles

The easiest way to browse help articles is by searching the SharePoint help pane. Articles that show up in the help pane are also available on support.microsoft.com.

If you're an admin, site owner, or advanced user, you can find in-depth information, guided walkthroughs, and tutorials on docs.microsoft.com.
